Job Description

This hybrid Telecom Engineer role supports a large, growing healthcare system by designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise telecommunication solutions. You will serve as a engineer responsible for Cisco-based voice infrastructure, including Cisco Call Manager and Cisco CUBE, and contribute to automation initiatives that improve voicemail and extension routing. The position is contract-to-hire and offers a mostly remote schedule, with periodic onsite work in the Neenah, WI area as needed for projects or urgent issues.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and support Cisco Call Manager to ensure reliable and efficient telephony services across the organization.

  • Manage and maintain Cisco CUBE, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting to support voice traffic and call routing.

  • Collaborate with the telecom team to design, implement, and optimize telecommunication solutions that meet enterprise-scale requirements.

  • Develop and support automation for telephony workflows, including voicemail handling and extension routing, to streamline operations and enhance user experience.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation approximately once every six weeks to respond to critical incidents and service disruptions.

  • Respond to and resolve telecom-related incidents and service requests, including occasional onsite support for urgent issues or major projects.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT and operational stakeholders, to support telecommunication needs for a large healthcare or similar enterprise environment.

  • Document configurations, changes, and procedures to maintain accurate records and support knowledge sharing within the telecom team.

  • Contribute to ongoing telecom projects, such as system upgrades, integrations, and enhancements, ensuring minimal impact on end users.

  • Support the telecom manager and team members by providing technical expertise, sharing best practices, and helping to continuously improve the telecommunication environment.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Telecom Engineer or similar role supporting enterprise telephony environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Call Manager, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco CUBE, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a production environment.

  • Experience in telecommunications within a large-scale environment, such as healthcare or insurance, or comparable enterprise setting.

  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation approximately once every six weeks and respond to urgent issues as needed.

  • Capability to work in a hybrid model and travel onsite within approximately one hour of a designated hospital location when required for projects or critical incidents.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex telephony issues efficiently.

  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders across the organization.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment or other highly regulated industry.

  • Familiarity with UCCE (Unified Contact Center Enterprise) and UCCX (Unified Contact Center Express).

  • Experience with telephony automation, particularly related to voicemail and extension routing.

  • Exposure to large enterprise environments undergoing mergers or integrations.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in telecommunications.

Work Environment

This role is based in Neenah, WI, within a large healthcare system, and follows a hybrid work model that is mostly remote. You will join an established telecom team under a telecom manager and work closely with other IT and operational teams. The environment relies heavily on Cisco telephony technologies, including Cisco Call Manager, Cisco CUBE, and potentially UCCE/UCCX, with a focus on automation for voicemail and extension routing. You will participate in an on-call rotation approximately once every six weeks and may need to travel onsite to hospital locations within about an hours distance when project work or critical incidents require in-person support. The work setting emphasizes reliability, responsiveness, and collaboration in support of mission-critical communication systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Neenah, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
