Job Summary:
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the company’s quality management system and quality control program. This role ensures that products, processes, and services consistently meet company, customer, AS9100, ISO 9001, and other applicable quality requirements.
This is a hands-on quality leadership role that requires regular presence in the lab, inspection areas, and manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate is not office-bound; they are expected to actively observe processes, support inspectors and production teams, verify compliance at the point of work, and drive practical improvements where the work is being performed.
The Quality Manager will develop and implement effective quality strategies, identify and eliminate defects, lead root cause and corrective action efforts, and foster a company-wide culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, lead, and promote a strong quality culture throughout the organization, ensuring employees understand and follow quality expectations.

Develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.

Maintain a visible and active presence in the lab, inspection areas, and production floor to observe work practices, verify process adherence, support problem-solving, and identify quality risks.

Develop and implement comprehensive quality control processes to monitor and ensure product quality at every stage of manufacturing and across all company functions.

Lead and manage the quality inspection team, providing guidance, training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure team effectiveness and growth.

Establish and maintain quality assurance standards, inspection methods, and acceptance criteria in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements.

Identify areas for process improvement and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions, preventive actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements, conduct supplier audits, address supplier quality issues, and ensure the quality of incoming materials.

Maintain accurate quality records and documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, corrective action plans, audit records, calibration records, and customer-required documentation.

Ensure all customer-required quality documentation is collected, reviewed, completed accurately, and submitted as required.

Investigate and resolve quality issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.

Investigate, address, and respond to customer complaints related to product quality, documentation, or compliance.

Develop and deliver quality-related training programs to improve employee understanding of quality standards, inspection requirements, documentation practices, and compliance expectations.

Establish, monitor, and report key quality performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of quality control processes and identify trends.

Ensure calibration requirements are maintained and that inspection tools, gauges, and equipment are current, accurate, controlled, and used properly.

Participate as a key member of the Leadership Team, supporting quality compliance, company objectives, strategic goals, and organizational values.

Serve as a practical, hands-on quality resource for production, inspection, engineering, purchasing, and leadership teams.
Required Skills and Abilities

In-depth knowledge of quality control methodologies, inspection practices, quality systems, and continuous improvement tools.

Strong understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001, QMS requirements, non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective action, and routine audit preparation.

Ability and willingness to spend regular time in the lab, inspection areas, and on the production floor.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to identify quality issues through direct observation, data review, employee feedback, inspections, and customer concerns.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills.
-
Ability to work effectively with inspectors, operators, supervisors, engineers, suppliers, customers, and senior leadership.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, audits, documentation requirements, and improvement projects.

Ability to work independently while also collaborating across departments.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with quality control software, ERP systems, or electronic QMS platforms is a plus.

Practical, floor-focused leadership style with the ability to balance documentation requirements with hands-on quality involvement.

Respectful of processes in place, and has ability to communicate and work with leadership team on implementing incremental changes, when needed.
Minimum Education Required
High School Diploma (required)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality management, or a related technical field is preferred.
Minimum Experience Required
-
Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or quality management in a manufacturing environment.

Experience and knowledge of a shop/manufacturing floor is a plus.
-
Proven experience developing, implementing, maintaining, or improving a Quality Management System.

Experience with/knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 requirements.
-
Experience leading quality inspectors, inspection teams, or quality technicians preferred.
-
Experience conducting internal audits, supplier audits, customer audits, or supporting certification audits preferred.
-
Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, non-conformance reporting, calibration systems, and customer quality documentation required.
