Full job description

About the Opportunity Vangst is partnering with a leading multi-state cannabis brand headquartered in Arizona to hire a Project Coordinator, Business Development. The company sells across several U.S. markets, has new states on deck, and is actively pursuing international expansion. This role sits at the center of that growth. You’ll help leadership decide which markets the company enters next and keep every market-entry project organized, on time, and on budget. You’ll work directly alongside the company’s executive leadership. When a market gets the green light, you’ll hand it off to the launch team. This is a strong fit for individuals wanting to break into cannabis as a research analyst or operations professional who want real exposure to how a growing company makes big decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Research new markets. Dig into licensing rules, market size, pricing, competition, and regulatory timelines. Verify findings against primary sources such as state regulators, license databases, and industry reports, and turn them into clear briefs.
  • Analyze data. Build Excel models and market comparisons that help leadership weigh which markets to enter.
  • Review contracts. Read agreements, flag risks and questions, and track key dates and deliverables through signature.
  • Keep projects on track. Manage tasks, owners, and deadlines in Asana. Watch for scope creep, slipping timelines, and budget variances, and raise them early.
  • Coordinate the team. Prepare meeting agendas, notes, and follow-ups, and make sure action items get closed.
  • Hand off launches. When a market is approved, build the handoff package (plan, open items, contracts, contacts, budget) and walk the launch team through it.
  • Communicate at every level. Work with ownership groups, operators, and internal teams, and handle confidential information with discretion.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years coordinating projects or supporting a team in research, analysis, legal, or operations
  • Hands-on experience with Asana or a similar project management tool
  • Strong Excel skills
  • A habit of verifying your sources: you confirm facts before sharing them
  • Ability to read and understand contracts and give useful feedback
  • Comfort holding people to deadlines without formal authority, and escalating when a decision is needed
  • Clear, professional communication with people from associates to owners, domestic and international
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience

Bonus Points

  • Cannabis, CPG, or regulated multi-state industry experience
  • Familiarity with vendor contracts
  • Ability to read financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

What to Expect This is a fast-paced, high-expectation role with direct exposure to senior leadership. The company works with international partners, so evening and weekend work is required, and overtime is paid. In return, you’ll build experience in deal-making, regulation, and finance that most people wait years for.

Pay & Benefits

  • $31.25/hour (~$65K annualized) with overtime pay
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including a $0/month employee-only plan option with a company HSA contribution
  • Company-paid life insurance and an Employee Assistance Program
  • Wellness benefits and discounted gym access

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Able to pass a background check and obtain any required industry badges or licenses
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (sponsorship not available)
  • Able to work onsite in Scottsdale, AZ, and travel up to 25%
