Job Title: Probation Officer I - Gwinnett CSO & HITS - Lawrenceville, GA (COM)Agency: Department of Juvenile Justice Job Requisition ID: JR0000004296Shift: Any (United States of America)Compensation Details: $45,903.00 Job Description: Under supervision, investigates, counsels and provides continuous supervision for adult or juvenile probationers or parolees to assist in their social and personal adjustment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Aids in making plans for helping offenders with life adjustments
• Counsels probationers or parolees via office visits, employment visits, telephone inquiries, community contacts and correspondence
• Informs offenders or inmates of requirements of conditional release, such as office visits, restitution payments, or educational and employment stipulations
• Investigates activities of probationers or parolees to ascertain their level of readjustment to society
• Investigates background histories of probationers or parolees; review court files, police reports and other pertinent reports to gather information
• May testify in court concerning matters pertaining to clients such as sentencing, trials, pleas and violations of probation or parole conditions
• Monitors and conducts surveillance of probationers/parolees
• Provides offenders with assistance in matters concerning detainees, sentences in other jurisdictions, and writs
• Writes reports detailing clients’ progress and other reports/paperwork as necessary accurately completing them within established time frame.
• Performs arrests of parolees who have violated the terms of their release, in accordance with statutory requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Note: Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first (6) months of employment.

Physical Agility Standards: This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities associated with maintaining safety and security within our secured facilities and community settings. Candidates must be capable of meeting agency-established physical agility standards and may be required to successfully complete a validated physical agility assessment before hiring and at other intervals as required by agency policy.
