Description

Our consulting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing individual and business tax returns, reviewing financial documents for accuracy, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other business entities

  • Analyze financial records, income statements, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate tax filings

  • Identify tax credits, deductions, and planning opportunities for clients

  • Communicate with clients to gather needed information and resolve tax-related questions

  • Ensure compliance with current tax laws, regulations, and filing deadlines

  • Maintain organized and accurate client tax files and documentation

  • Assist with tax notices, audits, and correspondence from taxing authorities as needed

  • Stay current on changes in tax legislation and best practices

  • Collaborate with internal team members to support client service and tax planning initiatives

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of recent tax preparation experience

  • Experience preparing a variety of returns, including individual and business tax returns

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations

  • Drake Software experience highly preferred

  • Proficiency with tax preparation systems and Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

  • CPA, EA, or other relevant tax credential is a plus

  • Strong customer service mindset and professionalism in client interactions
