Position Overview

Job Title: Postdoctoral Associate

Office/Location: SUNY Polytechnic Institute

The SUNY Poly Semiconductor Processing to Packaging Research, Education and Training Center is looking to hire a post-doctoral associate to carry out research in the area of semiconducting materials processing and the incorporation of AI autonomous systems to more rapidly develop next generation materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for conducting advanced research in materials synthesis, focusing on material deposition process development, AI integration, and data processing to enhance the resulting operational functionality of the materials generated.

  • Work will focus on both PVD sputter deposition and CVD methods and will involve the installation and qualification of the deposition systems as well as incorporation of AI and robotics assemblies for automation of methods.

  • Metrology analyses of the resulting materials for characterization of material, electrical and optical properties will also be completed.

  • Assist the faculty in preparing project reports, managing the research projects and writing publications and presentations.

  • Mentorship and training of graduate and undergraduate (interns) students in experimental procedures and data analysis while conducting training sessions on specialized techniques, software, and lab safety.

The position is based in Utica, NY.

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual checks.

Salary: $65,000

Job Requirements:

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in materials science and engineering, electrical and computer engineering, chemical engineering, physics, chemistry or a related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Experience with semiconductor materials processing and analyses.
