Description

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Automation Specialist to support the growth of our Industrial Automation business. This role serves as a technical resource for customers, sales personnel, and manufacturer partners, with a primary focus on Rockwell Automation hardware and software solutions.

The Automation Specialist will work alongside our senior Automation Specialist in a structured mentorship program to develop expertise in industrial automation products, software licensing, and application support. Over time, this individual will become a subject matter expert in FactoryTalk software offerings, including FactoryTalk Optix, FactoryTalk Emulate3D, and ASEM 6300 industrial computing and visualization platforms, and our Networking Encompass Partners such as Cisco, Dell, Microsoft, Fortinet to name a few, while also developing as a trusted advisor on Network Infrastructure, IT/OT Convergence, Data acquisition/dashboarding.

This position focuses on technical product support, customer education, application guidance, and business development. It does not involve system integration, programming services, or implementation of customer automation systems.

Reports to: Solution Consultant Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent industry experience

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial automation, controls, or manufacturing technologies

  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, or automation software

  • Exposure to Rockwell Automation products or similar automation platforms

  • Experience in technical sales support, application engineering, distribution, or industrial manufacturing environments

Working Conditions:

  • Conditions vary and may include industrial, warehouse, office, and external environments.

  • Some activities will include climbing, standing, and possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office time may include sitting for extended periods.

  • The position involves travel – both by car and by air.

Essential Job Functions:

Technical Product Support

  • Serve as a technical resource for customers and sales teams regarding Rockwell Automation hardware and software products.

  • Assist customers with product selection, software licensing, hardware specifications, and solution recommendations.

  • Develop expertise in FactoryTalk Optix, FactoryTalk Emulate3D, and ASEM 6300 platforms, and Networking Encompass Partners.

  • Provide application guidance and best-practice recommendations for automation and visualization solutions.

  • Answer customer questions regarding product capabilities, compatibility, and configuration requirements.

  • Coordinate with Rockwell Automation technical resources when advanced support is required.

Sales & Customer Support

  • Partner with outside and inside sales teams to identify automation opportunities and support customer engagements.

  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations.

  • Assist in developing proposals, quotations, and recommended bill-of-material solutions.

  • Support customer evaluations of automation software and hardware technologies.

  • Build relationships with OEM, system integrator, contractor, and end-user customers.

Product Knowledge & Training

  • Participate in a multi-year development program under the guidance of the company's senior Automation Specialist.

  • Complete manufacturer training and certification programs related to Rockwell Automation technologies.

  • Stay current on new product releases, software enhancements, and industry trends.

  • Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions for customers and internal sales teams.

Business Development

  • Support automation sales growth initiatives throughout the assigned territory.

  • Identify opportunities to expand customer adoption of software, visualization, industrial computing, and automation technologies.

  • Collaborate with manufacturer representatives and supplier specialists to develop customer opportunities.

  • Assist in developing strategic plans to increase automation market share.

Compensation Range:

The compensation range for this position is $60000 to $90000 annually.
