Full job description

Join Cleveland Clinic's Martin North Hospital where research and surgery are advanced, technology is leading-edge, patient care is world-class, and caregivers are family. This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful St. Lucie River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it an excellent medical facility and a home away from home.

The Electrophysiology Lab at Martin North Hospital specializes in the treatment of cardiac rhythm disorders and offers various procedures, including pacemaker/ICD implantation, ablation of cardiac arrhythmias and more. As an RN on this team, you will interact with the patient before, during, and shortly after their procedure to ease their mind, advocate for them and provide education. You will also be responsible for loading the patient into the Operating Room to begin the procedure and documenting, circulating, scrubbing in or stimming during the case. This role will offer you the opportunity to work in a procedural setting without additional expectations. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts from 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.

  • Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider licensed military RN experience

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS American Red Cross certification upon hire or within one year of employment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
