SUMMARY
Performs a variety of secretarial and clerical duties and performs various tasks concerning patient records maintained in the RIS/PACS systems in the radiology department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Duties:

Greets all departmental visitors to ensure that accurate and efficient departmental communications is facilitated through positive and expedient action.

Answers telephone according to hospital policy in a courteous manner expressing a greeting to the caller and identifying self and department.

Schedules patients in the RIS according to established procedures.

Utilizes RIS to locate and print radiology reports.

Sorts and prepares reports for distribution.

Digitizes outside films to be loaded into PACS.

Telephones call reports as requested.

Prints images and creates CD/DVDs from PACS as requested to leave the radiology department.

Records all image/CD/DVD requests in RIS.

Scans all necessary forms or documents into PACS.

Transports contrast media and non-narcotic medication upon request.

Escorts outpatients to and from Radiology.

Provides Services Excellence by using the “AIDET“Technique: Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank You.

Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with all coworkers and guests.

Recognizes when others are in need of assistance and consistently offers to help when own workload permits or finds someone who can.

Demonstrates competency in the use of RIS/PACS, and any other information systems as required.

Maintains patient confidentially and is aware of patient rights.

Keeps immediate supervisor informed of any unusual concerns.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
Experience in a healthcare setting helpful but not essential. Medical terminology helpful.
