Trust Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Trust Accountant to support financial operations in New York, New York. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining the accuracy of trust accounting records, reconciling cash activity, and ensuring the general ledger reflects complete and timely information. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills and a disciplined approach to handling account balances, journal activity, and banking transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain trust accounting records and monitor account activity to support accurate financial reporting.

• Perform regular bank and cash reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.

• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation to keep financial records current and accurate.

• Review general ledger activity for completeness, consistency, and alignment with supporting trust account detail.

• Track daily transactions affecting trust balances and ensure all entries are recorded in accordance with established procedures.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to clarify account variances and support month-end close activities.

• Assist with updates to accounting processes or systems when needed, including documenting changes that affect trust accounting workflows. Requirements • Experience working with trust accounts in an accounting or finance environment.

• Strong background in bank reconciliations and cash reconciliation processes.

• Knowledge of general ledger structure and financial transaction recording.

• Ability to prepare and review journal entries with a high level of accuracy.

• Proficiency in identifying, researching, and resolving account discrepancies.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage recurring deadlines effectively.
