Full job description

Description

Would you like to operate the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure and help U.S. Government agencies solve their most complex technical problems? AWS has established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we do with the U.S. Intelligence Community, building and operating some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world.

The US ADC Security Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated ADC Engineer II focused on operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. You have a solid understanding of Linux, networking, and cloud services fundamentals, and you know how to simplify solutions to complex problems while ensuring customers continue to have the best experience possible.

This is a shift-work position. The team runs 24/7 operations, which may require you to work some nights and/or weekends.

This position requires that the candidate selected currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Key job responsibilities

  • Provide front-line troubleshooting and operations support for complex, large-scale distributed systems on a 24/7 shift rotation.

  • Dive deep to find the root cause of customer issues and investigate metrics trending in the wrong direction.

  • Identify, resolve, mitigate, or escalate operational concerns in a timely manner, balancing operational risk appropriately.

  • Identify ineffective processes and defects in availability, performance, or maintainability, and drive improvements.

  • Design and build automation that reduces manual operational toil and increases the speed and scale of the team.

  • Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to runbooks and operational knowledge-sharing.

A day in the life

On a typical day, you may dive deep to find the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending in the wrong direction, or discuss radical new approaches to automating operational processes. You join a dedicated group of engineers who provide troubleshooting and operations support and continuously innovate to automate operational tasks, all while keeping a high-value classified environment running smoothly around the clock.
