Description

Robert Half is seeking a Bookkeeper to provide part-time accounting support for a nonprofit music organization in Portland, Oregon. This Contract position is onsite and offers a contract engagement with the possibility of longer-term employment. The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit bookkeeping experience, comfort with recurring reporting deadlines, and the ability to manage financial tasks accurately during the first and third weeks of each month.

Responsibilities:

  • Process payments, prepare checks, and maintain accurate records of outgoing funds.

  • Record incoming deposits and keep cash activity updated within the accounting system.

  • Produce month-end financial reports and help ensure timely completion of priority reporting needs.

  • Create and maintain Excel-based schedules and provide general financial reporting support for leadership and board-related deadlines.

  • Assist with contractor payment processing and day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.

  • Support nonprofit accounting operations by tracking designated and undesignated funds with accuracy.

  • Monitor revenue activity tied to grants, fundraising initiatives, tuition, concerts, and other program sources.

  • Contribute documentation and financial detail needed for annual informational tax reporting, including 990 support.

Requirements • Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper with hands-on responsibility for core accounting functions.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online for daily bookkeeping, reporting, and transaction management.

  • Background in nonprofit accounting, including knowledge of fund restrictions and donation-related revenue tracking.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to organize data and prepare clear financial reports.

  • Experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, and bank reconciliations.

  • Ability to work onsite in Portland, Oregon during morning hours, primarily in the first and third weeks of each month.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet time-sensitive reporting deadlines with minimal supervision.
