Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to join a critical project with one of the largest consulting and advisory firms in the world. This individual will provide hands-on technical leadership for critical components of the State of California’s behavioral health transformation platforms. The role combines software architecture, full stack development, identity and access management, technical mentorship, and production delivery in a complex, regulated environment. The ideal candidate will remain deeply involved in development while guiding architectural decisions and helping engineering teams deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. Own the architecture, technical quality, and delivery outcomes for an assigned product or platform area. Lead the implementation and rollout of identity provider and access-management solutions, including authentication and authorization integrations. Design scalable distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and event-driven services that integrate with the broader platform ecosystem. Write production-quality code for complex features and critical system components while remaining actively involved in day-to-day engineering. Make technical decisions concerning system design, technology selection, implementation strategy, performance, scalability, and security. Diagnose and resolve complex production issues spanning applications, services, integrations, and system boundaries. Establish engineering standards for code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and operational readiness. Mentor mid-level and senior engineers through code reviews, pairing, technical planning, and architecture discussions. Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to translate product objectives into practical technical solutions. Drive initiatives that improve system reliability, performance, maintainability, developer experience, and secure production delivery.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and delivering distributed, high-scale, or enterprise applications. 3+ years of technical leadership experience influencing architecture, leading complex implementations, and mentoring software engineers. 5+ years of hands-on experience with at least two of the following: C#, Java, Python, Go, TypeScript, or JavaScript. 3+ years of experience implementing and rolling out identity provider and access-management solutions, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, authentication, authorization, and zero-trust principles. 5+ years of experience designing APIs, microservices, service integrations, and event-driven or distributed system architectures. 3+ years of experience with cloud-native engineering and DevOps technologies, including Azure, AWS, or GCP; Kubernetes; Docker; Terraform or Helm; and CI/CD or GitOps practices. Experience delivering software within healthcare, government, or another regulated environment. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, Kafka or Kinesis, Elasticsearch, API gateways, service mesh, or data-mesh architectures. Experience implementing enterprise observability using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or CloudWatch, including distributed tracing, metrics, and centralized logging.
