By joining our Department of Highways District 10 Engineering Support Branch and Equipment Section as a Transportation Auto/Truck Technician IV in Lee County; you’ll have the opportunity to work with the equipment section on maintenance and repairs of automotive, medium and, or, heavy equipment such as engine diagnostics, diesel timing, fuel and air systems repair and engine rebuilding.
Holders of the Transportation Auto and Truck Technician IV position will complete tasks such as:

Mechanical repair work on automotive and diesel vehicles.

Operate various technical machinery and tools.
-
Maintain records and reports on work completed.

Ensure safety of employees and proper traffic control on job sites.

Inspect and road test all repairs made.
Ideal candidate will have experience in:

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have seven years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Vocational or technical school training in automotive/equipment/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must be Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified master technician in medium/heavy truck or automobile test series.http://www.ase.comEmployees in this job classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority within six months of employment in the job classification, documentation that he or she possesses a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
