Description

Ready to step up your career in the Department of Corrections? If so, an Offender Information Supervisor may be for you! As an Offender Information Supervisor, you'll have the opportunity to learn new skills, accept new challenges, and maximize your potential.

Offender Information Supervisor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a section of up to 10 staff, guiding their daily work activities as well as helping them attain their career goals.

  • Entering and auditing complex sentences for felony convictions.

  • Reviewing and approving inmate releases.

  • Interpreting and applying policy, statutes and regulations.

  • Planning and conducting training for the Offender Information Services section as well as other Corrections staff.

  • Acting as a liaison between other Departmental staff and Offender Information Services branch.

  • Responding to correspondence from offenders and other agencies.

  • Maintaining confidential files, records, and information.

  • Cross training with other sections to strengthen the team environment.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years of experience in management, administration, legal, paralegal, or offender records.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Administrative, management, legal, paralegal, law enforcement, or offender records experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
