2027 Technology Internship ATI Specialty Materials

Location: Richburg, SC

Program Duration: 10 Weeks | Summer 2027

Target Students: Rising Juniors & Seniors Materials Science & Engineering

Solve Manufacturing Challenges Through Materials Science Intern in Technology at ATI

At ATI, we engineer specialty materials that power the next generation of aircraft, spacecraft, surgical implants, and energy systems. As a Technology Intern, youll apply your Materials Science and Engineering knowledge to real-world manufacturing challenges. Youll work with plant teams to investigate material defects, analyze mechanical and metallography data, and monitor experimental material processing to identify trends and support improvements.

What Youll Work On

Depending on your project assignment, you may:

  • Investigate material defects throughout the plant to help determine their source and recommend process changes to reduce defect occurrence.

  • Analyze mechanical and metallography data against processing history to identify trends and processing conditions associated with unacceptable results.

  • Observe and monitor experimental material lots throughout processing to measure improvements and respond to unforeseen processing challenges.

  • Apply materials science principles and data analysis to support manufacturing process improvements.

  • Collaborate with technical and plant personnel to communicate findings and develop potential solutions.

What Youll Gain
