Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-2210-13, IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN-INFOSEC) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, C5ISC DEPLOYED CONNECTIVITY SECTION in ALEXANDRIA, Virginia.

Duties

You will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (PLCYPLN-INFOSEC) and be responsible for managing information technology projects. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Providing advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes to IT systems. Providing recommendations for possible improvements or upgrades to IT systems. Acting as a primary stakeholder in the underlying IT operational processes and functions that support service, provide direction and monitor all significant activities so the service is delivered successfully. Ensuring appropriate Service level agreements and underpinning contracts have been defined that clearly set out for the customer a description of the service and measures for monitoring the service. Managing internal relationships with IT process owners supporting the service, assisting with the definition of Operating Level Agreements. Participating in the acquisition process as necessary. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level II (FAC P/PM-II) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position. B. Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Specialized experience may include the following: Using standard procedures to implement engineering changes at an enterprise level. Use government publications including Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), National Security Agency (NSA), and United States Coast Guard (USCG) guidance combined with technical expertise to recommend, evaluate, and implement security standards and configurations for network transport systems and hardware in collaboration with IT engineers and Information Assurance (IA) personnel. Use recognized project management methodologies to prepare, plan, and execute project milestones and report progress. Provide product support oversight of support activities to ensure compliance. Participate in collaborative IT teams in a matrixed environment and integrated product teams focused on organizational strategic issues and initiatives. Develop cost estimates for products and services in support of budgeting, forecasting, and industry quote comparison. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies listed below.
