Job Summary

This is an entry level student position and a great opportunity for a student looking to get experience in event planning. Must be enrolled at the University of Utah as a student to apply.

Do you love the outdoors?! The student event assistant will support the planning, organization, and execution of the event. This is ideal for a student interested in event management, sports marketing, outdoor recreation, or community engagement. The intern will play a key role in Event planning and logistics, volunteer coordination, marketing support, creative brainstorming, and on-site event operations. This job will run through the Fall semster with the opportunity to extend into Spring semester.

What You’ll Gain

Responsibilities

Event Planning & Logistics

  • Assist with event planning and organizational tasks.

  • Maintain event timelines, checklists, and project tracking tools.

  • Support coordination with vendors, sponsors, athletes, and campus partners.

  • Help manage event supplies, signage, and materials.

  • Help troubleshoot issues and provide general event support.

  • Help ensure a positive experience for riders, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and outreach.

  • Coordinate volunteer schedules, assignments, and event-day responsibilities.

  • Draft and send email communications to volunteers, participants, sponsors, and event stakeholders.

  • Support athlete, volunteer, and guest check-in processes.

Creative & Marketing Support

  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance the athlete, spectator, and volunteer experience.

  • Assist with social media content, promotions, and event engagement initiatives.

  • Support sponsor activations, contests, and fan experiences.

  • Help create event materials and communications.

  • Ensure sponsor logos are received

  • Manage email follow-ups and communications leading up to and after the event

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current University of Utah student

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Creative thinker with a positive, can-do attitude.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Interest in action sports, skiing, snowboarding, event management, or marketing preferred.

Preferences

A college student interested in event marketing, outdoor recreation, skiing, snowboarding, action sports, communications, or sports management who is eager to gain hands-on experience producing premier action sports events. This internship may be renewed for similar events during the spring season based on performance and organizational needs.
