Job Summary

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking to fill aBuilding Automation Systems Software Engineer position.This positiondesigns,programs, and commissions Building Automation Systems (BAS) for commercial facilities. The role troubleshoots control systems, supports system integration and start-up activities, and ensures systems operate as intended.The rolealso provides training and technical support to customers and technicians while helping deliver successful project outcomes.An ideal candidate will bring strong expertisein controls and related areas, and bring a customer-driven,problem-solving mindset to the team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create control algorithms, download source code to controllers, manage system databases, and implement an animated front-end graphical user interface.

  • Participate in final inspection and testing, assure customer acceptance, and conducttraining for end user customers on system operations.

  • Manage integration ofmultiplesystems,facilitatinginformation sharing betweendifferent protocolsandestablishinga front-end for multiple platforms

  • Executeproject start-ups, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installed BAS controls and mechanical systems

  • Work withproject teamstodemonstratesystem operationsand verify consistency with the contracted scope of work.

  • Run and createsemi-complex reportsanalyzingsystem operations

  • Collaborate withequipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration to their systems

  • Provideplansandcontrol system documentsto application engineeringteamsto createas-built drawingsusingdigital technology.

  • Contribute to thelayout and coordination of network drops, IPaddressesand monitoring tools withcustomer'sIT Department personnel.

  • Train othercontrols techniciansin preventative maintenance, repair, and care of BAS systems

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelorsdegree in Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of3yearsbackground in temperaturebuilding automationand controlspreferred

  • Other technical experience such as military,job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement asdeterminedby local management.

  • Strongunderstanding of HVAC operations within a facility.

  • Abilityto configure and debug computer and networking problems.

  • Abilityto troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.

  • Workingknowledgeof AC power circuitry including breakers, multi-phase power, etc. (120VAC and greater)

  • Background in Niagara Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic Controls,and/orAlertonpreferred

  • Working knowledgeof computer operating systems including MS Office Suite of products.

  • Must beservice-mindedand customer focused.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Creativeproblem solvingskills to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions
