Full job description

Description

Amazon Product Managers (PMs) own their product's vision and are responsible for its success. They lead end-to-end product development, working backwards from customer opportunities through execution and launch, to driving adoption, and measuring impact. They serve as the critical intersection point amongst customer needs, business goals, and technical possibilities. Product Managers own the strategic direction of their product roadmap, delivering meaningful value to both customers and the business. They work through business model implications and product pricing to ensure products create sustainable value. They must hold an honest tension between customer and business value — always keeping focus on customer value. They drive critical product decisions by defining what to build, why it matters, when to deliver it, and how to measure success, ensuring those decisions are made in a timely manner. They gain customer insight through direct engagement.

However, customer obsession doesn't mean doing exactly what customers say. It means understanding the underlying problem so deeply that you can solve it in ways customers haven't yet imagined. PMs go beyond stated requests to uncover unarticulated needs and invent novel ways to address them. They make judgment calls about which simplifications are acceptable and when a product is ready to ship versus when it is better to release something and start learning. They collaborate with every required functional area to deliver for the customer — engineering, science, design, finance, marketing, sales, legal, and operations. They think beyond their own product or feature — considering how their work fits within the broader portfolio of products and services their business unit offers. Failing to do so can lead to customer confusion, a fragmented experience, and diverging value propositions.

We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager with a strong background in strategic planning to lead key safety initiatives that align with our long-term business objectives. This role is ideal for individuals who excel in transforming strategic product visions into actionable roadmaps and guiding those plans to fruition. In this role, you will be responsible for safety gear strategy, including the development and execution of detailed project roadmaps. Your expertise in strategic planning will be essential in identifying critical business opportunities and challenges, and in devising innovative solutions to address them. You will work closely with various internal teams and stakeholders, particularly across Procurement, Global Road Safety and organizations, harmonizing different perspectives and ensuring cohesive efforts towards common goals. Specifically, this role will focus on leveraging safety data to develop net new products (specifically physical equipment) that improve safety performance. Examples of already launched products include hands free lights, ice cleats and smile light.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee various cross-functional products, ensuring successful delivery.

  • Develop and refine product strategies, effectively leading and motivating teams.

  • Set clear objectives for products, leveraging data analytics to drive improvements and achieve metrics.

  • Navigate and resolve ambiguities in business scenarios, applying creative problem-solving skills.

  • Foster collaboration with internal and external partners to optimize resource allocation and project success.

  • Evaluate and prioritize projects in conjunction with customer needs and technical team inputs.

  • Bridge gaps in team dynamics, processes, and systems, preventing common project pitfalls.

  • Identify and mitigate risks, preventing them from escalating into major issues.

  • Regularly communicate with senior managers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to support key business initiatives.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee KPI reporting for a program portfolio, ensuring clear visibility of milestones and project performance.

  • Manage and communicate project budgets effectively.
