Full job description

Description We are looking for a dependable Staff Accountant to join a client-focused retail business in Shreveport, Louisiana. This permanent, on-site position plays an important role in keeping financial operations accurate, organized, and timely while supporting day-to-day accounting activity across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and maintain accurate accounting records to support business operations and decision-making.

  • Compile and distribute daily sales reporting for leadership, ensuring information is complete and timely.

  • Review routine retail transactions, record accounting activity, and help maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

  • Reconcile inventory records on a regular basis and participate in physical inventory counts as needed.

  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including transaction tracking and follow-up.

  • Calculate and maintain sales performance data, including monthly goals and commission-related reporting for the sales team.

  • Prepare and submit monthly sales tax filings in accordance with applicable requirements.

  • Maintain financial and operational data within company databases and assist with administrative office support when needed.

  • Monitor office supply levels and coordinate building-related upkeep to help ensure smooth daily operations. Requirements

  • Prior accounting experience, including exposure to general ledger activity, journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook in a business setting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Ability to stay organized, accurate, and productive while working in a fast-moving environment.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with a strong customer service approach.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members across the business.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

  • Availability to work Saturdays and successfully complete background and credit screening.
