Network Engineer (Hybrid | Kansas City, MO)Overview

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join a highly visible, mission-critical IT infrastructure team supporting a large healthcare environment in the Kansas City area. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network and telecommunications systems. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Cisco networking technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and network troubleshooting.

This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to be local to the Missouri/Kansas City metro area, with the ability to work onsite and remotely one day per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and support enterprise network infrastructure.

  • Manage and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and VoIP/Collaboration systems.

  • Administer and support Palo Alto and other enterprise firewall technologies.

  • Maintain and optimize wireless network environments.

  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.

  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex network issues.

  • Perform packet capture analysis using Wireshark.

  • Develop and maintain network documentation, standards, and procedures.

  • Mentor junior Network Engineers and Network Administrators on best practices, troubleshooting methodologies, and technical documentation.

  • Assist with network modernization initiatives and infrastructure upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise network environments.

  • 5+ years of experience managing Cisco routers, switches, and Cisco Collaboration/VoIP technologies.

  • 4+ years of experience managing enterprise firewalls and wireless networks.

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • Cisco Routing & Switching

  • Palo Alto Firewalls

  • Wireless Networking

  • Network Troubleshooting

  • Enterprise Network Architecture

  • Experience performing packet capture analysis using Wireshark.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting, including:

  • Python

  • Ansible

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments.

  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.

Certifications

Required

  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)

Preferred

  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)

  • ASE (Architecture Systems Engineer)

  • HP AIS (Accredited Integration Specialist)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
