High school diploma or G.E.D. 2. Aptitude for the work to be performed 3. Work history of good attendance, dependability, and punctuality 4. Ability to work effectively without close supervision 5. Ability to follow directions effectively 6. Effective communication skills with children and adults 7. Willingness to acquire a substitute certificate 8. Willingness to give classroom instruction when needed 9. Willingness to supervise students as needed 10. Demonstrated computer skills appropriate for the position 11. Ability to pass the requisite assessment. Alternative to the above qualifications as the Governing Board finds appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Site administrators, teacher(s), Director, or others depending on the position. WORKS CLOSELY WITH: Classroom teacher, principals, office personnel JOB GOAL: To assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly-functioning school environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. 1. Maintains and respects confidentiality of all information acquired. 2. Prepares classroom activities under the supervision of the certified employee. 3. Works with small groups of students to reinforce material being taught. 4. Supervises students in classes taught by outside agencies. 5. Assists individual students in need of special attention. 6. Assists in creating visual schedules for individual students. 7. Assists students with toileting needs including diapering and toilet training.
