Vice President of Operations (Electrical Contracting)

About the Opportunity:

A well-established, family-owned electrical contracting company is seeking a senior executive leader to help drive the next phase of growth. With more than four decades of success, this organization has built a strong reputation across residential, commercial, service, and marine electrical markets throughout South Florida.

Position Overview: The Vice President of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple divisions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and at targeted profit margins. The VP of Operations will oversee Residential, Commercial, Preconstruction, and Service divisions. This executive will have direct P&L responsibility, lead multi-division teams, establish operational standards, develop future leaders, and drive performance throughout the organization.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead construction operations from project award through completion
  • Maintain accountability for divisional P&L performance
  • Manage labor productivity, project schedules, staffing, and resource allocation
  • Review project performance, budgets, margins, and labor utilization
  • Ensure accurate project turnover from estimating to operations
  • Drive profitability through effective change order management and cost controls
  • Establish and improve operational procedures, reporting systems, and field accountability measures
  • Build and mentor leadership teams including field leaders, superintendents, foremen, and service managers
  • Promote safety excellence across all operations
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives
  • Monitor backlog, workforce planning, and scalability efforts
  • For the VP of Operations role, lead the continued growth of the service division into a recurring-revenue business unit

Required Qualifications:

  • Executive-level experience as a VP, COO, President, or senior operational leader
  • Proven success leading an electrical contracting organization at or above $100M in revenue
  • Strong electrical contracting experience required
  • 10+ years of construction operations leadership experience
  • Direct P&L ownership and accountability
  • Strong understanding of: Work-in-progress reporting (WIP), Labor productivity metrics, Buyouts, Change orders, Job costing, Margin management
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects, teams, or divisions simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success developing future leaders and building organizational depth
  • Strong field presence and relationship-focused leadership style
  • Ability to scale operations while maintaining culture and employee engagement

Compensation and Benefits:

  • VP of Operations: $185,000 - $210,000 base salary
