Casting Grinder

JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB SUMMARY Grind castings with various air tools and media to achieve a smooth casting surface that conforms to customer prints and specifications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Inspect parts for defects and inform supervisor of gross defects Grind casting surfaces to required contours Inspect inside passages for obstructions and smoothness Maintain a clean and organized workstation Maintain air tools in working condition Clean out grinding booth weekly SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS None EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent is preferred, but not required. This is an entry level position and previous foundry experience is not required, but is preferred. On the job training is provided for employees with no previous foundry experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to understand documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, job tickets, and procedure manuals written in English (verbal translation from Northern Stainless is available). Must be able to covey issues or concerns relating to the quality of the casting. MATH SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
