Position Summary:
Incumbent is responsible for enhancing the student academic experience by assisting in the operations of the resource sharing (interlibrary loan and document delivery) and reserve services. Responsible for supporting the department in meeting the responsibilities outlined in the Interlibrary Loan Code of the United States. Assists the Resource Sharing & Reserves Coordinator with department workflow and operations; service delivery; data gathering, review and analysis.
Assists Circulation staff in supervising the library and may provide general reference assistance when a librarian is not on duty. Assists with building supervision, circulation functions, shelf maintenance, and supervision of student assistants as needed. Processes reserves and interlibrary loans. May cross-train in other areas while still performing the duties of this position.
Responsibilities:

Assists the Resource Sharing and Reserves Coordinator in working with instructional technologists, Utica University faculty and staff, and online partners in the development, management, and maintenance of electronic reserves and other online learning objects in the library collection.

Utilizes a variety of online, bibliographic databases and ILLiad (ILL management software) to efficiently and accurately process and monitor interlibrary loan requests to and from Utica University students and faculty.

Responsible for work assignments for student assistants during shifts to ensure daily service and production in interlibrary loan, document delivery, and reserves during shifts. Has oversight for the quality of the work.

Assists in the creation and maintenance of procedures and documentation for operations in resource sharing, document delivery, and reserves.

Responsible for training student assistants in ILL and reserves procedures and processes during shifts to ensure daily service and production in interlibrary loan, document delivery, and reserves.

Must practice a high level of independent judgment and decision making regarding the interpretation and implementation of ILL policies and codes.

Maintains proficiency in ILLiad, electronic reserves, and course management software. Stays informed of updates and new releases, and best practices in resource sharing. Makes use of network of ILLiad users, both local and national, to maintain awareness of best practices and to solve technical problems.

Attends functions and required workshops pertaining to ILL and reserves, including IDS meetings and CLRC sponsored workshops. Takes advantage of professional and online networking resources to stay informed of ILL trends and developments. Maintains awareness of new services and technologies related to ILL and document delivery.

Maintains records of overdues, billings, invoices, copyright compliance and statistics.

Helps to compile annual report on resource sharing statistics, accomplishments, and goals.

Maintains patron records and their confidentiality. Determines and assigns library privileges to visitors.

Follows procedures for opening and closing the library at established hours. Makes sure building is secure at closing.

Serves as first point of contact for customer service over the phone and in person.

Assists in the supervision and training of student assistants working at the circulation and information desks. Helps the Circulation Coordinator in enforcing library policies and procedures, and maintaining a building atmosphere conducive to study.

Manages and distributes library hours calendar and maintains posting of calendar throughout library and electronically.

Performs general checks for neatness and for books out of place, sort and shelves library materials and assists with shifting library collections.

Refills and removes jams from copiers.

Performs other duties as assigned and/or assists with special projects as are required by circumstance.

Works with supervisor to develop specific goals that support Utica University's operational plans. This is done at least annually through the annual performance evaluation process, however review of goals will occur throughout the year.

Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:

2 yr. degree required.

Supervisory experience desirable.
Skills/Abilities:
