Guild – Technology Support & Deployment Technician

Description: Technology Support & Deployment Technician 31

Report To: Director of IT Service Delivery

Location: Bolling

General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, provides technical support and deployment services for district technology devices, classroom technology, and related equipment. Prepares, configures, deploys, replaces, collects, and maintains technology equipment across schools and district locations. Supports large-scale technology deployments and lifecycle initiatives while maintaining accurate inventory and asset records and providing responsive technical support to staff and students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares, configures, stages, tests, and deploys district-supported devices, including desktops, laptops,

Chromebooks, tablets, peripherals, and classroom technology.

  1. Supports large-scale technology deployments, refreshes, replacements, collections, and other districtwide

device and technology initiatives.

  1. Installs and configures operating systems, applications, device settings, peripherals, and other district-

supported technology in accordance with established standards.

  1. Provides technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, classroom technology, peripherals,

and basic network-connected devices.

  1. Coordinates the distribution, collection, replacement, relocation, and recovery of technology equipment

across schools and district locations.

  1. Supports technology asset lifecycle activities, including inventory, assignment, repair, warranty processing,

recovery, surplus, recycling, and disposition.

  1. Maintains accurate records related to device assignments, inventory, deployments, repairs, replacements,

and other technology assets using district systems and tools.

  1. Assists with maintaining organized technology inventory, staging areas, deployment supplies, and equipment

storage locations.

  1. Works collaboratively with Service Desk, Network & Field Operations, Enterprise Systems, Technology

Strategy & Operations, and school-based staff to coordinate technology deployments and resolve technical

issues.

  1. Performs related duties of a similar nature, as requested by the supervisor, which are commensurate with the

position.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of one year of experience supporting computer hardware, software, or technology systems

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users

  • Ability to follow written technical procedures and instructions

  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license

  • Ability to lift and transport computer equipment and technology devices

  • City of Boston residency required

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting technology in a K–12 educational environment

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, ChromeOS, Windows, or Microsoft 365

  • Experience with inventory or asset management systems

  • Experience with device management, inventory, asset management, or IT service management systems

  • Familiarity with enterprise device enrollment, configuration, imaging, or provisioning processes

  • Basic understanding of networking and wireless technologies
