Howden’s core focus is on providing quality solutions for air and gas handling and have over a century of experience in doing so. We are hiring a Shipping/Crater Rigger for our Windsor, CT location.

What Will You Do?

  • Inspect product and work from blueprints, sketches, shipping instructions and other specifications to determine size and shape of container, materials of construction and supports and braces to be used.

  • Design, measure and cut wood to build crates for domestic and export shipping of non-standard items to include machines, sub-assemblies, parts and accessories.

  • Prepare machines for shipment by securing nameplates, decals, reference tags, coupling guards, in place as required.

  • Place product in crate, manually or using hoist, and secure in place using bolts or other strapping material as required.

  • Mark, label and identify packaged items with appropriate markings and identifications.

  • Work from work orders, verbal and/or written instructions, blueprints and other information to move goods to other areas and/or to load trucks.

  • Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material; Hoist and move loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled.

  • Locate items to be moved; pick up, transport, and delivered in accordance with operational sequences.

  • Store parts in assigned areas in a neat and orderly way.

  • Assist with other Shipping and Receiving and Inventory Management tasks as required

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Standing, bending, stooping, for a period of time. Walking the production floor. Reading documents to build crate.

Your Experience Should Be...

  • GED/High School diploma

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and instructions.

  • Ability to drive a forklift.

  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs.

  • Ability to pay attention to details and follow safety protocols.
