Standard Job Description

The Aircraft Mechanic performs simple to complex & advanced structural modifications, alterations, testing, troubleshooting, cyclical & unscheduled maintenance for aircraft, assemblies, components, and equipment. The work includes repairs, replacement, prototyping, and rebuilds of aircraft structures, such as wings, fuselage, blades, surfaces, composites, landing gear, and functional components. Candidates are customarily required to maintain all occupational areas in FOD free and aviation standard cleanliness conditions. Duties will primarily include precision locating, assembling, fitting, and installation of modified structural enhancements, repairs, or additions. The craft requires detailed coordination in dimensioning for exactness and precision. Additionally, the candidate will support cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes, jacking & towing of aircraft, and servicing aircraft components. The occupation requires entries in maintenance records describing work performed, verifying satisfactory performance, and returning aircraft, parts, and aircraft documentation to a flightworthy status. The candidate will make determination of work completeness and system operating conformance by referring to inspection lists, technical orders, service bulletins, blueprints, manufacturing outline sheets, and engineering reports. Other related airworthiness compliance categories are established through USG doctrinal guidance, Federal Aviation Licensing, and engineering specifications. Candidates within this title regularly specialize in their respective field of experience for repairs, maintenance, modification, precision instruments, functional spare parts, and aircraft assemblies.

Basic Qualifications

The duties of this title will primarily perform tasks independently and play a wide-ranging role in guidance, technical instruction, and specific skill development of lessor experienced employees. This candidate will possess vast and comprehensive technical expertise and specialization for the applicable scope of work. The duties will encompass complex problem solving, effective communication skills and broad knowledge within the scope of assignments.

Desired Skills

Demonstrated knowledge for determination of repairable, serviceable, rejectable, condemnable parts and assemblies. Proficient in procedures & methods concerning each of the categories.

Pay Information

  • $35.03 - $35.03

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
