Full job description
About Base Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the Role Base is looking for a Global Supply Manager to own strategy and procurement for the services and partners that keep Base building, delivering, and scaling. The individual will be focused on facility services, HVAC and building maintenance, utilities, furniture, signage, office supplies, and food and beverage. Base is opening locations across the country, and today each site finds its own vendors from scratch. You'll replace that with nationwide agreements, a preferred vendor list, and a repeatable vendor playbook for every new site, using Base's combined volume to get better pricing and more consistent service. While experience in facilities or procurement is valuable, we’re more interested in finding exceptional people who learn quickly, take ownership, and are excited to build. This is a chance to help build a procurement organization from the ground up, with meaningful ownership, direct work with business leaders, and hands-on experience in negotiation, commercial strategy, contract drafting, supplier management, cost optimization, and executive communication from day one.
What You’ll Do
-
Lead end-to-end sourcing for Base warehouses, including facility services, HVAC and building maintenance, utilities, furniture, signage, office supplies, and catered food.
-
Negotiate nationwide and regional agreements that use Base's total volume to lower cost and give every site consistent pricing, service levels, and terms.
-
Build and maintain a preferred vendor list and site playbook so the internal team can get core services in place at a new location quickly, without recreating the wheel each time.
-
Draft, review, redline, and negotiate contracts with service providers, and suppliers, including master service agreements, statements of work, pricing schedules, and service-level terms, writing clear language that conveys business intent and reduces risk.
-
Run RFPs and RFQs, benchmark pricing, and recommend the right commercial structure (e.g., national vs. regional coverage, fixed vs. usage-based pricing) based on business needs and risk.
-
Partner with Workplace Operations, Deployments, Real Estate & Construction, Finance, Legal, and site leaders to understand requirements and launch timelines, working toward practical, cost-effective solutions.
-
Run regular supplier scorecard reviews on cost, service quality, and responsiveness, and give suppliers clear feedback that drives improvement.
-
Travel periodically to Base sites to understand needs, meet suppliers, and support new site launches.
What You'll Bring
-
High ownership and work ethic: you take responsibility for outcomes, follow through on commitments, and put in the effort to help build a world-class procurement organization.
-
Fast learner, comfortable with ambiguity: you quickly learn new categories, markets, and suppliers, and are resourceful enough to create clarity and next steps when no playbook exists.
-
Strong communicator: able to influence site leaders, operators, and suppliers without formal authority.
-
Sharp analytical and commercial instincts: strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency.
-
Background in procurement, sourcing, facilities management, operations, finance, or consulting preferred. Experience with facility services or multi-site spend is a plus.
About the Team Our strategic procurement team procures the goods and services Base runs on outside of the battery itself: software, site services, facilities, equipment, consumables, contractors, and the vendor relationships behind them. We're building the function from the ground up, setting up the contracts, vendor lists, and processes that let every team buy quickly without overpaying. As Base grows, the agreements this team puts in place decide how fast we grow and our spend and savings. Every dollar we save goes back into the mission. Homeowners across the country rely on Base for whole-home backup and below-market electricity rates, while our aggregated storage supports grid stability at a moment when demand is accelerating from AI infrastructure, electrification, and extreme weather. You'll get real ownership, direct access to business leaders, and the chance to shape how a fast-growing energy company buys.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our Values
-
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
-
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
-
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
-
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
-
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
-
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
-
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.
