Responsibilities include coding and testing embedded software, validating algorithm performance on flight hardware, troubleshooting integration issues, supporting real-time processing environments, and ensuring software meets stringent performance and reliability requirements. The role will also involve technical leadership, design reviews, architecture discussions, and mentoring engineers across the software development lifecycle.

Skills and Requirements

Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of flight software algorithms for embedded aerospace systems. Translate mission and algorithm requirements into efficient, reliable flight software code. Design, develop, test, and integrate software solutions within real-time operating environments. Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineering teams to support hardware-software integration efforts. Support software deployment onto flight processors, embedded platforms, and third-party systems. Optimize algorithm performance in resource-constrained flight environments. Participate in Agile development activities including planning, reviews, and technical leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 12+ years of experience, Master's degree with 10+ years of experience, or PhD with 8+ years of experience. Strong mathematical background supporting algorithm development and implementation. Ability to translate mission algorithm requirements into flight software code. Experience developing software for embedded and flight systems. Understanding of operating systems, kernel-level concepts, and low-level software development. Experience working within real-time operating systems and flight software environments. Strong embedded systems development experience. Experience integrating software into third-party platforms. Hands-on experience with flight hardware and hardware-software integration. Experience implementing algorithms directly into embedded or flight software. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. Preferred Qualifications Active DoD Secret Clearance preferred. Experience optimizing distributed processing across FPGA, CPU, and GPU architectures. Expertise with NVIDIA Jetson Orin platforms. Experience working with Microchip PolarFire FPGA technologies. Ability to design and implement high-bandwidth real-time processing solutions (~20 Gbps). Experience reducing latency across heterogeneous compute architectures. Strong experience mapping complex algorithms to fixed hardware environments. Knowledge of hardware-software co-design principles for compute-intensive embedded systems.
