Overview

TISTA is seeking a detail-oriented Validation Specialist to support healthcare quality improvement initiatives. In this role, you will review medical records, investigate and adjudicate discrepancies between hospital and CDAC abstractions, determine the gold-standard response, and document clear explanations and educational feedback in accordance with customer specifications and organizational guidelines. Your work will directly support the accuracy and reliability of healthcare data used to evaluate care standards, meet regulatory reporting requirements, and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and adjudicate discrepancies between hospital abstractions and CDAC abstractions to determine the “gold standard” answer.

  • Determine and record the explanation(s) for the discrepancies and provide well-written educational comments to the hospital or CDAC.

  • Perform medical record abstraction when needed to support module production goals.

  • Accurately enter collected data into software using a personal computer, keyboard and/or mouse.

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of medical records and protected health information (PHI).

  • Follow established processes, procedures and quality standards.

  • Meet or exceed established productivity and accuracy expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a hospital, healthcare or medical record review environment.

  • Education or formal training in a related field may substitute for experience requirements.

  • At least one (1) year of abstraction experience during which the individual has achieved above average data accuracy and productivity is required.

  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform work accurately and efficiently.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with healthcare quality measures and chart review methodologies.

  • Proven ability to meet strict daily chart-volume quotas and accuracy standards.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Plus additional Technical training in the review of medical records.

Clearance:

  • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.

Location:

  • York, Pennsylvania/Remote , USA.

Pay Range:

  • The pay for this position ranges from $41,730 to $51,500.

  • The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

  • Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
