Health Technician (Surgical) - GS-0621-07

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Transport patients from hospital units to the Operating Room assuring safe transportation of the patient.

• Select, assemble, and organize required supplies, equipment, and instruments for specific surgical procedure.

• Assist anesthetist during induction and throughout surgical procedure.

• Clean operating room after surgery.

• Arrange instruments in the trays in the correct manner.

• Position or assist positioning patient and draping the patient for the specific procedure.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in surgical procedures; preparing supplies and/or equipment in the operating room; or preparing operating rooms post-procedure.

OR

Education : One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as surgical technology.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
