Full job description

Overview

The Smart Money Tracking Team builds and operates core treasury infrastructure powering internal funds movement, balance verification, money reconciliation, and transactions reporting.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll own complex, often ambiguous technical problems end-to-end: designing event-driven systems, partnering with platform teams, and setting the technical and engineering-practice bar for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design and delivery of complex, cross-system initiatives spanning balance verification, scheduled rule execution, and event-driven reconciliation.

  • Partner with platform teams to translate business requirements into robust, well-tested system designs.

  • Build and maintain production-grade services with rigorous automated test coverage.

  • Author and maintain architecture decision records and technical specs, keeping design and implementation in sync throughout delivery.

  • Provide technical leadership and code review for the team, modeling strong engineering practices and mentoring other engineers.

  • Proactively identify and communicate delivery risk, with clear recommendations and recovery plans.

  • Operate effectively through ambiguity, investigate open questions, document assumptions, and drive stakeholders toward decisions rather than waiting for full clarity.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated staff-level ownership of complex, distributed systems.

  • Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem; experience with Kafka or stream-processing frameworks (e.g., Flink) is a plus.

  • Experience designing and operating event-driven, high-reliability financial or transactional systems.

  • Deep commitment to automated testing practices, including integration and end-to-end testing as part of the delivery lifecycle.

  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and schema/migration management in production systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to document design decisions clearly and drive alignment across engineering and business stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated track record of proactively identifying and managing delivery risk, with strong ownership from design through production.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
