Collections Specialist

Description

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support accounts receivable operations for a Contract position based in Miami, Florida. This role focuses on maintaining healthy customer accounts, following up on outstanding balances, and helping ensure timely payment activity across commercial and consumer portfolios. The ideal candidate brings hands-on collections experience, strong attention to detail, and confidence working with billing records and accounting systems such as QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:

• Manage collection activities for overdue accounts by contacting customers, reviewing account status, and driving timely resolution of outstanding balances.

• Monitor accounts receivable aging and prioritize follow-up efforts to reduce delinquency across both commercial and consumer accounts.

• Investigate billing concerns, reconcile payment discrepancies, and work with internal partners to address issues affecting collections.

• Apply received payments accurately and support cash application processes to maintain up-to-date customer account records.

• Maintain detailed documentation of collection efforts, customer communications, and account outcomes in the appropriate systems.

• Use QuickBooks and related tools to review account activity, track payment trends, and support daily receivables management.

• Escalate high-risk or unresolved accounts when needed and recommend next steps based on account history and collection status.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in cash applications/deposits, accounts receivable, or a closely related finance support role.

• Background handling both commercial and consumer collections with a solid understanding of credit and collection practices.

• Working knowledge of billing collection procedures, account follow-up, and delinquency management.

• Experience using QuickBooks in a business environment.

• Familiarity with cash application activities and payment posting processes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle customer interactions effectively.

• High level of organization, accuracy, and follow-through when managing multiple accounts and deadlines.
