Plant Quality Engineer (Welding/Fabrication/Assembly) (Job Number: 1681)

We are seeking a Plant Quality Engineer to join our federal team at our York, PA location. This position is responsible for providing day to day quality engineering support within the Grantley Plant facility. Primary support will be the Welding, Fabrication and Assembly Areas. The incumbent will play an integral role in the continued growth and improvement of the JCNS business through achieving first pass yields, increased product flow / throughput, on-time delivery performance, and exceeding customer's expectations. Provide technical support to the Grantley Plant. 2. Leads and participates on continuous improvement teams to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ), first pass yields, increase product flow / throughput and achieve on-time delivery performance. 3. Supports COPQ metrics and analysis for CI teams. Generates various reporting metrics for scrap and rework, and first pass yield. 4. Supports the management and disposition of non-conforming material. 5. Participates and supports the Material Review Board. 6. Conducts measurement systems analysis, and process capability studies as required. 7. Works with customer service to address product issues, warranty or other problems. 8. Assists in the development and revisions to procedures and standard work to support the plant operation quality system. 9. Develops inspection plans used for the verification of manufactured and purchased components. 10. Performs first article dimensional reviews for both internal and externally manufactured parts. Required Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Weld Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace) with 2 or more years of manufacturing experience in heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace, with metal machining, welding and fabrication. 2. Knowledge and experience in welding NDT inspection methods (MT, PT, VT, UT) a plus 3. QMS knowledge and experience with ISO 9000, TS 16949, or AS 9100 a plus. 4. Proficient in personal computer capabilities in MS Office software, minitab or other quality data analysis tools. 5. Demonstrated problem solving, process capability, data analysis, measurement systems analysis, GD&T, and blueprint reading skills. 6. Strong planning, organizing, and proven leadership / team building skills. 7. Formal Lean and / or 6-Sigma training with significant demonstrated accomplishments a plus. 8. Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate and lead product quality, process and system improvement teams. Preferred Qualifications: 1.
