Full job description
Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MAINTENANCE ZONE MANAGER in the CRANE MANAGEMENT DIVISION (730), LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT (700)of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will plan, coordinate, and oversee all work performed within the assigned area of Crane Maintenance Division. You will be responsible for the overhaul, maintenance and repair for the Shipyard’s nuclear, nuclear refueling, and non-nuclear weight handling equipment. You will coordinate the implementation of crane Maintenance Division policy within their area of cognizance. You will be responsible for the overhaul, maintenance and repair of special purpose equipment assigned to lifting and handling, nuclear support functions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying technical knowledge as it relates to principles, concepts, and practices concerning shipyard work operations, projects, control system requirements, trade and shop practices, and the development of personnel in service shops or similar. Experience assisting with development of workload forecasts. Experience with project management applying principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and managing projects and resources, including technical performance. Experience investigating and analyzing practices, identifying specific problems and evaluating lessons learned from projects, existing working instructions from past projects, and new methods of work breakdown, while applying analytical and problem solving skills. Experience influencing, motivating, and persuading production shop and department supervisor personnel and others in positions of decisions making authority to follow different courses of action.
