Full job description

Amaze Health delivers concierge-style virtual care that feels like having a trusted “doctor friend” on call 24/7, for everything from sudden illnesses to chronic conditions and mental health. As a true partner, we simplify the healthcare maze, guiding patients with clarity, compassion, and confidence while empowering them to take control of their health. Beyond treatment, we provide partnership, helping people feel heard, supported, and cared for throughout their journey. Join us as we transform healthcare, one patient at a time.

We are seeking a dedicated Billing & Claims Specialist to help patients navigate complex medical billing and insurance challenges. You will review EOBs, itemized bills, and health plan documents to identify potential billing errors, benefit discrepancies, and opportunities for resolution.

Serving as a third-party patient advocate, you will investigate issues and work with healthcare providers and insurance companies to pursue accurate resolutions rather than directly processing claims or billing patients. You’ll also translate complex billing and insurance information into clear, actionable guidance so patients understand their options and next steps.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys investigative problem-solving, has strong attention to detail, and finds purpose in helping others navigate the complexities of healthcare in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review EOBs, itemized bills, and billing statements to identify potential errors, including upcoding, balance billing, and incorrect benefit application.

  • Interpret SPDs and other health plan documents to verify benefits and coverage.

  • Investigate billing and claims discrepancies and determine appropriate next steps.

  • Advocate for patients by working with healthcare providers and insurance companies to correct errors and resolve issues.

  • Clearly and empathetically communicate findings, next steps, and resolutions to patients.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of case reviews, communications, actions, and outcomes in internal systems.

  • Collaborate with team members on complex cases to support timely and accurate resolutions.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, claims processing, or a closely related healthcare reimbursement function.

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and resolving medical billing and claims issues, including appeals, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and health plan benefit application.

  • Experience reading, interpreting, and analyzing Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) or comparable health plan documents.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement processes, including the ability to identify and address common billing and claims errors.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex billing, claims, and benefit information to individuals without a billing background.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications or comparable tools used for document review, analysis, and reporting.

  • This is an in-person position at our downtown Denver office at 18th & Broadway. Parking is provided.

Preferred Qualification

  • Certified Professional Coder and/or Biller.

Benefits

  • An inclusive, team-driven culture where your voice is valued and collaboration is the norm.

  • Opportunities to deepen your expertise in patient advocacy, insurance processes, and healthcare operations.

  • A sense of mission—be part of a team that helps patients find clarity, access, and peace of mind at critical moments.

  • A comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.

  • Pay range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000 annually.

If you’re ready to help patients overcome obstacles and simplify the healthcare journey, we’d love to meet you. Join us and see the difference you can make—one conversation at a time.
