Job Description:

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To understand and meet customer expectations and requirements of part and process inspection

This role reports to the Quality Manager. Note that working safely, wearing PPE and following safety processes is a condition of employment at ITW Heartland.

Job Duties:

  • To inspect parts and process using a variety of inspection methods and equipment.

  • Assist with the scheduling of the calibration of inspection equipment.

  • Will operate all necessary inspection equipment and may assist in programming.

  • Plans own work to meet requirements of production schedule.

  • Meets all standards set forth by company QMS (Quality Management System)

  • Handles all defective parts per QMS MRB procedures

  • Completes all necessary paper work in a timely manner.

  • Assist with first article inspection and documentation requirements per AS9102

  • Provide assistance with customer source inspections

  • Participate in business QRB as assigned

  • May be asked to direct the work of others to expedite parts flow and provide training as needed.

  • Communicates with supervisor, managers, CSRs, customers, and suppliers.

  • Able to work within a team.

  • Performs all work within ISO protocol

  • Follow safety and good housekeeping practices

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience

  • Technical School graduate in Machine Shop or Machine Tool design or equivalent or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred.

  • Ability to use various inspection equipment.

  • Experience reading blue prints and understand the geometric tolerance system

  • Understand equipment calibration system

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Part and process inspection

  • Prepares required inspection documentation

  • Regular and consistent attendance

  • Good communication skills

EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB:

  • Inspection tools

  • Computer

  • Forklift

SIGNIFICANT WORKSITE MEASUREMENTS:

  • Various sizes and dimensions of machine components weighing up to 50 lbs.

CRTITICAL DIMENSIONS:

  • Sitting 3 hours per day

  • Standing 3 hours per day

  • Walking 2 hours per day

  • Finger manipulation-frequently

  • Grasping, pinching-frequently

  • Carry up to 50 lbs.-frequently

  • Lift at waist level up to 50 lbs.-frequently

  • Lift overhead up to 35 lbs.-frequently

  • Drive forklift-occasionally

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:

  • Moving objects slight forklift traffic

  • Noise level slight machine noise

  • Safety glasses with side shields required in the shop

  • Leather foot wear required in the shop

  • Slippery surfaces - slight

VISION AND HEARING:

  • Looking at parts and measuring equipment

  • Far vision, color discrimination, depth perception minimum reading correspondence

  • Hearing sensitivity slight

Key: Rare……………………1-5% of day

Occasional…………….6-33% of day

Frequent………………34 – 66% of day

Continuous……………67 – 100% of day

Compensation Information:

$22 to $26 per hour depending on experiencefor level II Technician

up to $30 per hour for level III Technician depending on experience
