Rate: $21 USD per hour

Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is looking to add a Phlebotomist to its team. In this role, you’ll collect and process blood specimens while ensuring resident safety, comfort, and accurate laboratory testing. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform venipunctures and fingersticks to collect blood specimens from residents

  • Prepare residents for blood draws, explain procedures, and answer questions regarding testing

  • Verify resident identification and accurately label all specimens according to established procedures

  • Ensure specimens meet testing requirements, including proper collection tubes, specimen volume, and handling procedures

  • Maintain accurate documentation of blood draws, tests performed, and resident information

  • Enter and update resident information in applicable systems and databases

  • Transport specimens in accordance with facility policies and laboratory requirements

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition

  • Monitor inventory and maintain adequate supplies needed for phlebotomy procedures

  • Complete logs, requisitions, and other required documentation accurately and timely

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and laboratory personnel to support resident care

  • Follow infection control practices, safety procedures, and all federal, state, and facility regulations

  • Assist residents who may be anxious or fearful during blood collection procedures

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred

  • Minimum experience requirement: Prior phlebotomy experience required; prior phlebotomy experience working with an elderly population preferred

  • Phlebotomy Certification or equivalent required

  • CPR Certification preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion when working with residents

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently

  • Familiarity with infection control policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of specimen collection, handling, transportation, and laboratory documentation requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment
