Partner with Enterprise Data Governance stakeholders, business units, and technology teams to understand business processes and data needs and translate them into practical technical solutions. This role combines business engagement with hands-on technical contribution. The analyst will develop, test, implement, and support solutions that improve data quality, observability, metadata, lineage, and governance across cloud data platforms, while working with senior team members on complex design and implementation decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Build effective working relationships with business units, data stewards, and technology teams to understand business processes, data usage, challenges, and desired outcomes.

  • Participate in discovery discussions, ask relevant questions, document requirements, and translate business needs into clear technical requirements and solution components.

  • Communicate technical concepts, solution options, dependencies, and issues in clear business language, and help technical teams understand the business context and impact.

  • Develop, test, document, and maintain code using Python, SQL, and other applicable programming languages to support data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, and automation capabilities.

  • Build and enhance data pipelines, integrations, APIs, and reusable utilities across cloud data platforms with guidance as needed.

  • Contribute hands-on to solution implementation, including prototyping, debugging, root-cause analysis, code reviews, automated testing, deployment activities, production support, and ongoing enhancements.

  • Analyze data quality and observability results and contribute to improvements in controls, monitoring, and exception reporting for enterprise cloud data stores.

  • Work with business stakeholders and data stewards to collect and enrich metadata, document data lineage, and define data quality requirements.

  • Support data access management activities that help protect sensitive and Navy Federal member data.

  • Work with data analysts, data modelers, engineers, and functional subject matter experts to understand data structures and contribute to technical solution design.

  • Follow established security, engineering, documentation, testing, and Information Security practices when implementing and supporting solutions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience in technology product analysis, data engineering, software development, data analytics, or a related technical discipline.

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to understand business processes, document data needs, and translate requirements into implementable technical solutions.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Hands-on experience developing, testing, debugging, deploying, and supporting code in an enterprise environment.

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; exposure to Java, Scala, or a similar programming language is a plus.

  • Experience working with cloud-based data lake, data warehouse, or data hub environments; experience with Microsoft Azure or Databricks is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of data pipelines, APIs, Git-based source control, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.

  • Experience with data quality, observability, or monitoring; familiarity with Ataccama or a similar platform is preferred.

  • Exposure to metadata, lineage, or data catalog tools such as Alation, Databricks Unity Catalog, Collibra, or similar platforms is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of data governance, data security, and data management principles.

  • Exposure to data modeling concepts or tools such as Erwin or Hackolade is a plus.

  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to work through technical details, investigate issues, and contribute to implementation and support.

  • Ability to balance hands-on development with requirements analysis, documentation, stakeholder collaboration, and production support.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage assigned priorities, seek guidance when needed, and contribute effectively in a collaborative environment.
