The Director of Social Services is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and administering clinical and social services. This includes ensuring patient care activities maintain the standards of patient care and advise medical staff in matters related to clinical services by performing the essential duties personally or through subordinate staff.

Oversees the provision of clinical services, social services, and discharge planners to patients requesting or requiring such services.

Serves as a resource and referral source for patients, physicians, staff and general community.

Conducts psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus by interviewing the patient and their family members.

Provides group and family process-oriented therapies as well as conducting educational and other didactic groups for patients and family members using various professional treatment modalities.

Develops and coordinates an individualized discharge plan for the patient by utilizing treatment team and written chart information to determine the patient's aftercare needs.

Attends regular treatment team meetings to provide social work perspectives to total case management of the patient by discussing progress notes charts and communicating any state or local agency legal requirement for case management with the interdisciplinary team.

Carries out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening and selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.

Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Maintain current Knowledgeable of patient rights and laws pertaining to mental health and regulations pertaining to the treatment of the mentally and emotionally disturbed patients. Theories, principles, and techniques of group and individual psychotherapy, symptoms and behaviors of emotionally disturbed mentally ill patients.

Displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crises intervention practice, medical and psychiatric emergency procedures.
Salary range: $87,110.40 - $135,699.20
Requirements
Education:
-
Master's Degree in Social Work or equivalent degree in a recognized mental health field.

Massachusetts licensed LiCSW required.

CPR and CPI Certifications (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
Minimum Work Experience:
-
Experience in inpatient setting preferred; skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice.

Knowledge of acute psychological disorders; advanced principals of abnormal psychology as specifically applied to adults; familiarity with follow-up resource service available; skills in conducting marital and family group therapy.
