Full job description

The Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering is soliciting applications for multiple tenured or tenure-track positions at all levels. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related area.

The department seeks individuals with exceptional promise for, or proven record of, research achievement, who will take a position of international leadership in defining their field of study and who will excel in undergraduate and graduate education. Leadership in cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary collaborations is of particular interest. We are seeking exceptional candidates in all areas of electrical and systems engineering, with emphasis on Decision Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Engineering. We are particularly interested in AI methods that strongly connect to real-world application domains (e.g., energy systems, transportation, healthcare) or directly inform operational or strategic decisions in complex systems. In computer engineering, we are particularly interested in digital design, computer architecture, and programming systems that permit the joint optimization of hardware and software.

We are especially interested in candidates with a diversity of experiences and perspectives. Penn Engineering strongly supports dual career couples, and we welcome and encourage inquiries about dual career assistance (for academic and non-academic opportunities) at an early stage of the recruitment process.

Interested persons should submit an online application and include curriculum vitae, research, and teaching statements, and at least three confidential letters of recommendation.

Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2026.

Must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related area.
