Full job description
Description We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a technology-focused finance team in San Francisco, California on a Contract basis. This role will support core general ledger activities, help drive an accurate and timely close process, and contribute strong analytical insight across key balance sheet and income statement areas. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, sharp attention to detail, and prior experience in tech or fintech environments, including exposure to ASC 606 and usage-based revenue accounting.
Responsibilities:

Lead critical close activities each month by preparing and reviewing accounting entries across cash, accounts payable, accruals, and other general ledger accounts.

Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and properly supported.

Analyze period-over-period fluctuations and provide clear explanations for notable movements affecting financial results.

Manage bank and cash-related reconciliations while maintaining strong control over balance sheet accuracy.

Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues, improve reporting quality, and support timely financial deliverables.

Apply accounting guidance related to ASC 606 and usage-based billing structures to maintain appropriate revenue recognition treatment.

Support project-based accounting priorities, including general ledger oversight and process execution tied to ongoing business needs.

Take ownership of assigned workstreams by identifying issues proactively and driving them through resolution with minimal oversight. Requirements • Significant experience in senior-level general ledger accounting, including ownership of month-end close activities.

Strong background preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis in a fast-paced environment.

Prior experience working in a technology, B2B SaaS, or fintech organization.

Working knowledge of ASC 606 and accounting considerations related to usage-based revenue models.

Proficiency in bank reconciliations, accrual accounting, and accounts payable-related entries.

High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Effective communication skills and a proactive, accountable approach to problem-solving.
