Full job description
Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations and provide strong accounting leadership for a finance consulting environment in Midland, Texas. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate reporting, guiding close activities, and strengthening financial processes that support sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to accounting management, a sharp eye for detail, and a commitment to compliance and operational discipline.
Responsibilities:

Direct core accounting activities across the organization, including ledger management, payables, receivables, payroll-related accounting, and project-based financial tracking.

Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles to deliver complete and reliable financial results on schedule.

Prepare and review financial statements and supporting reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with reporting standards.

Establish, refine, and enforce accounting procedures and internal control measures that protect assets and reduce financial risk.

Monitor daily financial transactions and resolve discrepancies to maintain clean records and dependable account balances.

Partner with leadership to provide financial insights, support planning efforts, and improve visibility into business performance.

Oversee accounting documentation and record retention practices to promote organized, audit-ready financial files.

Support process improvements within the accounting function, including updates to workflows, controls, or systems when needed. Requirements • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility within a controller or senior accounting capacity.

Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial close procedures, and financial statement preparation.

Experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and project accounting functions.

Solid understanding of internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance-focused financial operations.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation, reconciliations, and financial review.

Ability to organize, compile, and maintain financial records and supporting documents efficiently.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced setting.
