San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Payroll Specialist I is a payroll professional that is responsible for administering the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance bi-weekly payroll. This position performs a variety of technical and functional duties including setting up, compiling, verifying, reporting and processing payroll related data in the Dayforce Human Capital Management system. The position reports to the Payroll Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Processes bi-weekly payroll, terminations, retro calculations, payroll deductions, imports, and garnishment administration in accordance with state and federal regulations, policies and union contract.

Responds and resolves complex and sensitive inquires, maintains effective working relationships, provides excellent customer service.

Administers Leave of Absences as they pertains to payroll for Medical Leaves, Workers Comp, FMLA/CFRA and Accommodation Leaves. Coordinate pay.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
JOB EXPERIENCE

1-2 years of experience in payroll processing with strong analytic skills.

Experience with Dayforce HCM system preferred.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma required
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a diverse organization.

Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written).

Working knowledge of payroll procedures and practices.

Able to operate Excel at a high level.

Analytical skills

Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment and manage multiple priorities.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
