PCA/ Nurse Assistant - Encinitas - Medical Acute 1 North - Days

This is a full-time position (72 hours every two weeks), working 12-hour day shifts (6:30am - 7:00pm) and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

Scripps Memorial Encinitas Medical Acute 1 North is a 30-bed medical-surgical unit with telemetry patients. Our primary focus is medical patients but see a wide variety of patients ranging from cellulitis or sepsis to substance withdrawal.The ideal candidate will be someone who is self-motivated and committed to providing exceptional patient care. In this role you will be assisting patients with their activities of daily living, performing vital signs, and performing EKGs. We are looking for someone who is looking to can work efficiently and collaborate as a team.

The duties of a Patient Care Assistant include:

• Providing excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team
• Assisting patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment
• Assists with patient care within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician
• Supporting the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
• Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• One (1) year of acute care experience
• Multiple patient care skills
• CNA Certification
