Full job description

Recruiting Associate | Nox Metals | Detroit, MI or Los Angeles, CA

About Nox Metals. American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. Nox Metals is building it, along with the tools that run it. We’re a technology company in Metro Detroit supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

The role. We're hiring a Recruiting Associate to staff our factories. Nox is growing fast on the floor and in the office, and every empty seat slows us down. You own the top of our hiring funnel: you take a role from approved req to a full slate of qualified candidates on the calendar. You write and post the job, find the people, reach out, screen them, and put the best ones in front of our team for interviews. Most of your day is outbound. The best operators aren't scrolling job boards, so you go find them. You'll recruit for the floor and the office, and as Nox opens new plants, including one in Los Angeles, you'll help staff each one. You report to our Recruiter. If you've spent a year or two in in-house recruiting or sourcing and you like the hunt more than the paperwork, this is your role.

Shift hours: Monday through Friday, 800 AM to 500 PM, with some early or late hours to reach second shift and weekend candidates as needed.

You will:

  • Turn job descriptions into postings the right people want to apply to, and keep them live and current across our job boards
  • Source candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, and our partner network of colleges, trade programs, and city workforce programs
  • Run outbound: find people who aren't looking and give them a reason to talk to us
  • Screen applicants, run phone screens, and decide who moves on to a first-round interview
  • Schedule interviews, coordinate with hiring managers, and keep every candidate informed, so no good candidate sits waiting on us
  • Keep candidate records clean in our ATS, and track where our best candidates come from and which channels are worth our time
  • Build relationships with schools and workforce programs that send us good people year after year
  • Follow every People Ops SOP, and tell us when one is broken so we can fix it
  • Handle confidential information with discretion, every time

You are:

  • 1 to 3 years in in-house recruiting or sourcing, with real outbound experience
  • A hunter: you'd rather send fifty messages than wait on one applicant
  • Good at writing job posts and cold messages that people actually answer
  • Comfortable on the phone all day, and good at it
  • A clear, direct communicator with candidates from the shop floor to the front office
  • Organized and fast: you can juggle dozens of candidates across many reqs and never lose one
  • A good judge of people who can explain exactly why you said yes or no
  • Willing to flag it to a hiring manager when a candidate or a req doesn't add up
  • Never says "that's not my job"

Nice to have:

  • High-volume hiring experience
  • Experience recruiting for manufacturing, skilled trades, or hard tech
  • Experience hiring for defense or ITAR environments
  • Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter and an ATS, Ashby a plus
  • Comfortable using AI tools to work faster and smarter

Benefits:

  • Equity in Nox Metals
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance

This role is full time, either in person in Detroit or based in Los Angeles. If you're in Los Angeles, you'll start with on-site training in Detroit and travel back as needed.
