Materials Specialist - Allen, TX
Location: Allen, TX -- Hybrid (Remote Fridays Only)
Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:00AM-3:30PM
Pay Rate: $30-$32/hour
Contract Length: 6 Months (Potential for Extension & Perm Conversion)
Start Date: Immediate Hire Opportunity
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Materials Specialist to join a dynamic supply chain and operations team on a 6-month contract basis. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate procurement, delivery, and inventory management of materials required to support business operations. The ideal candidate will have strong purchasing experience, ERP system knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain challenges.
This role offers a hybrid schedule with remote work available on Fridays and the possibility of extension based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supply Chain Operations

Process purchase requisitions and create purchase orders.
-
Monitor purchase order confirmations and proactively resolve quantity, pricing, and delivery discrepancies.

Coordinate with suppliers, purchasing teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely material availability.
-
Maintain and update purchase orders as changes occur.
-
Investigate and resolve purchasing and invoicing discrepancies.
-
Communicate delivery delays and update ERP systems with accurate status information.
-
Monitor supplier performance and support quality and supplier management initiatives.
-
Prepare and distribute demand forecasts to suppliers.
-
Support invoice verification and vendor issue resolution.
Inventory Management
-
Monitor inventory levels and material availability to prevent stockouts.
-
Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP systems.
-
Investigate and resolve system discrepancies and inventory errors.
-
Participate in inventory counts and audits.
-
Execute subcontracting processes with external suppliers.
-
Support replenishment strategies and inventory optimization efforts.
Logistics & Material Coordination
-
Track material deliveries and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
-
Coordinate material imports, transfers, and stock movements as required.
-
Prepare shipping documentation and related records.
-
Support warranty claim processing, returns, and supplier corrective actions.
-
Collaborate with planning and production teams to ensure material availability and operational continuity.
Continuous Improvement
-
Support process improvement and change management initiatives.
-
Assist in identifying opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency, data accuracy, and service performance.
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor's degree preferred.
-
Minimum 3+ years of experience in purchasing, materials management, supply chain, procurement, or inventory control.
-
ERP system experience required; SAP experience strongly preferred .
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
-
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
-
MBA, CPIM, PMP, or other supply chain certifications.
-
Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, construction, or technical operations environments.

Knowledge of supplier management, forecasting, and inventory optimization practices.

Experience coordinating material deliveries and vendor performance management.
