Summary
About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the NETCOM Headquarters G-2 at Fort Huachuca, AZ.
Duties
- Serve as the principal action officer for conducting Information Security reviews to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Perform inspections and staff assistance visits to advise on storage requirements, document markings, destruction, and transportation of classified materials.
- Implement procedures for in-processing and out-processing personnel, which includes clearance verification, submitting visitor access requests (VARs), and initiating background investigations.
- Advise staff, subordinates, and other personnel on information security and personnel security policies, processes, and systems.
- Coordinate with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the DoD Central Adjudication Facility (CAF) regarding the status of investigations and adjudications.
- Serve as Communications Security (COMSEC) Specialist responsible for planning and implementing COMSEC oversight for the NETCOM mission.
- Manage employee evaluation data, maintain property accountability for the G2 section, and coordinate mandatory training for personnel.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes: 1. Applying security principles and practices to safeguard communications security (COMSEC) material and information; 2. Assisting in the execution of security inspections to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; 3. Interpreting organizational policies and directives to support the implementation of information security programs; AND 4. Coordinating with internal and external personnel to resolve issues related to communications security accounts and operations. Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

This position requires a 2 year trial period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
